The story of  BOITUMELO
Boitumelo was a teenage girl who was raped in 2002 and killed by thugs in Soshanguvhe north of Pretoria. Her body was found in a bush. This touched Mma Msiza and reminded her of her own rape experience, where she then decided to open a children's home to protect girls, which she saw fit to name it after Boitumelo.

Meet Sophie Msiza
Sophie Msiza
The Founder

Sophie Msiza was born in 1958 with a very painful upbringing. Being from an abusive family it has always been her dream to do something that will help to protect the future generation from suffering such abuse. Her calling is to ensure that a child is kept safe, happy and healthy. Her calling manifested in the year 2000 when she initiated the Boitumelo Community Project. After Boitumelo's death she conducted a thorough community profile, through this process Ms Msiza realized the extend at which children were abused, abandoned and exposed to unbearable situations.

Boitumelo Community Project started by taking care of 5 children who were by then abandoned by their parents and some who were orphans. Today Boitumelo Community is a home to +/- 40 Children and Ms Msiza has been true mother to all of them.
